Poor Substitute
I bought this because it seems Scalp Benefits had been discontinued. I had been using it for several years and it was THE best shampoo & conditioner for my hair and scalp. A luxurious product. I then try this thinking it must be a new and improved formula to find it leaves my hair lank and lifeless. My hair had no volume after washing and looked and felt awful. Please bring back scalp benefits and read the forums where other customers are now buying other brands.

Would give no stars and would not recommend
I've used the scalp benefits shampoo and conditioner for years and have found it a very good product. I thought I would try the new scalp solutions balancing shampoo and conditioner and it was dreadful. My hair felt matted together after shampooing and the conditioner did not smooth it at all. I had to reshampoo and condition with scalp benefits before my hair felt normal. Will not be using it again. Expensive mistake.

Would definitely buy again
I have psoriasis on my scalp and this shampoo has worked really well so far, no more itching, bleeding or peeling. Thank you, Aveda!

Disappointing
I bought the travel size as I wanted to give it a try before buying the bigger size. I tried using it as part of the 3-step system as well alone with a different Aveda conditioner, and unfortunately I was still left with greasy film on my roots. It was as if I had used hairspray leaving my strands separated, but also when I lifted the top sections of my hair up, my hair underneath was greasy.

Clean and refreshing!
I have oily hair, but it is highlighted so I have the issue with greasy roots and dry ends! My hair felt clean and refreshed also smells amazing! Felt and smelt liked I'd been to the salon after blow drying, will continue to use! I used the scalp treatment, shampoo and conditioner.

Best Shampoo and Conditioner combo!
I was lucky enough to secure a sample of the Scalp Solutions Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner. After just one wash my hair felt smooth and sleek; even when completely wet! Having used a few times I've seen a noticeable difference in the texture of my hair and seen great results post heat styling too. Be interested to see the differences over a longer period of time. Worked through hair using the scalp brush which was great to ensure it was really evenly distributed!

Make your own mind up!
I used the previous formula and, yes, it was lovely. However, I have been deterred from buying the new version because of the negative responses. All I can say is make your own mind up. I asked for a sample recently after my hair cut at Aveda as I did not want to purchase a large bottle but this shampoo is lovely! It lathered really well and cleaned thoroughly. My hair is so short that I don't need a conditioner. I do suffer with an itchy sensitive scalp so I am hoping it will help but so far so good. I WILL purchase a full size bottle.

Not for my hair type
This shampoo smells amazing, has a great consistency and foams up really well. I just don't think it's well suited to my hair (fine and oily). I've tried using it the same way I use my other Aveda shampoos (washing twice) but feel this product leaves my hair limp and weighed down. Sadly it starts looking greasing at my scalp within hours of washing. I think it's a great product but maybe more suited to dryer hair types
